The Legend of Erik - The Presbyter

This is based on a medieval folk tale that's told here. The story tells of Erik, a very poor young man that falls in love with the daughter of a rich noble. As the noble father, he prohibits his daughter love and so Erik goes into reclusion to a monastery for presbyter monks. 

Times pass and the noble father lands start to get attacked by savages who seek nothing but to destroy, kill and plunder. At this time an unknown dark warrior emerges to fight and battle with the savages spreading the terror and caos to all who try to attack the kingdom. At the end of the war, with the defeat of the invaders, the dark warrior emerges to the noble man and reveals that he is indeed Erik, the humble poor man that he once reject the love of his daughter.

During his time in reclusion Erik found, hidden within the walls of the monastery, an all dark armor left there by an ancient warrior that, at the end of his days, sought redemption from God for his cruel warrior ways. He reminds the father that a man should not be measured by the coin in his pocket or the land in his name but by the deeds he performs in the name of others.

Now... There are two endings to this story: In one the ruler sees Erik is indeed a noble man and that his daughter is worth marrying him. But another, even with the forgiveness of his noble father, Erik remains true to his beliefs and returns to the monastery living the end of his days as a humble monk.

Either way, the story (to me) was so cool that I just had this image of Erik in the midst of battle in dark armor fighting trough blaze and flame.
